Interpipe proposes industrial acceleration zone between Ukraine and Romania

Ukraine should be seen not only as a future participant in European industry when discussing its development prospects. Ukrainian businesses are already contributing to the European Union’s goals of competitiveness, resilience, and decarbonization. This statement was made by GR Director of Interpipe, Nataliia Sydoruk, during a roundtable at the 9th High-Level Dialogue Ukraine–EU on horizontal issues and specific industrial sectors in Brussels on June 8, 2026, according to the company’s press service.

It is noted that in recent years Interpipe has made significant investments in the highest EU environmental and industrial standards, thereby substantially reducing CO₂ emissions. The company added that the current pace of greenhouse gas reduction demonstrated by Interpipe is among the best in the industry and aligns with the goals of the European Green Deal for 2030.

On April 1, 2026, Interpipe announced the completion of an agreement to acquire a pipe plant in Romania. In May, it was officially renamed Interpipe Roman S.A.

“Now we are monitoring the adaptation of the EU Industrial Accelerator Act and its provisions on the creation of industrial acceleration zones. We believe that the strengthening of industrial relations between the European Union and Ukraine should be considered through the integration of industrial zones on both sides. A pilot project could be based on the existing relations between the Ukrainian and Romanian steel sectors,” said Nataliia Sydoruk.

Future cooperation between the EU and Ukraine may include cross-border industrial clusters, coordinated infrastructure development planning, and joint investment projects that would strengthen competitiveness on both sides of the border.

“Ukraine’s integration into the European industrial space should be of interest not only to official Kyiv but also to official Brussels. Ukraine should not be viewed solely through the lens of recovery assistance. The stronger our industrial integration today, the more opportunities tomorrow for both Ukrainian and European businesses,” Sydoruk concluded.
