The agreement for a €13 million contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund was signed by the Italian Ambassador to Ukraine, Carlo Formosa, in the presence of Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Energy, Roman Andarak.
“We thank Italy for supporting the restoration of Ukraine’s energy sector. This assistance will help procure essential equipment and strengthen the resilience of Ukraine’s energy system at a time when the enemy relentlessly attacks energy facilities, and Ukrainian energy workers work around the clock to restore the damaged infrastructure, ensuring that Ukrainians have light and heat in their homes,” said Roman Andarak.
The Ukraine Energy Support Fund was established in April 2022 at the initiative of Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko and European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, under the Energy Community Secretariat.
Currently, pledged contributions to the Fund exceed €1 billion. Donors include public and private sectors from over 30 countries, including EU member states, the UK, and the US, as well as international and regional organizations.
Since its inception, the Fund has become an effective tool for international energy assistance, enabling Ukrainian energy workers to restore facilities after Russian attacks, carry out repairs, and install new capacities.
