Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov held a meeting with his Latvian counterpart Raivis Melnis.

He said they discussed further steps of cooperation in the field of unmanned systems and technologies for countering aerial threats.

“Ukrainian technologies and combat experience help partners adapt more quickly to the challenges of modern warfare, while support from allies enables faster scaling of solutions that have already proven effective on the battlefield,” Fedorov wrote on Telegram.

A particular focus of the discussion, he noted, was the development of partnership within the Drone Deal framework and the launch of new joint projects. The sides also identified priority areas for using partner resources to strengthen the Defense Forces.

Among practical areas of cooperation are the supply of Latvian-made counter-drone systems, as well as unmanned systems for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including strike drones, ground robotic systems, and naval drones.

The ministers also discussed continued support for the PURL mechanism, which helps secure critically important weapons for Ukraine, as well as the development of the “Test in Ukraine” initiative. This program allows partners and manufacturers to test their technologies in real combat conditions and improve them more quickly.

“Latvia remains one of our closest partners and a leader of the Drone Capability Coalition,” Fedorov concluded.
