Two fire trucks from the Ministry of Environment of Lithuania were handed over to Ivankiv Forestry in Kyiv region. The keys to the vehicles were presented to the foresters by Ruslan Hrechanyk, First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
During the occupation of Kyiv region by russian troops, Ivankiv forestry suffered greatly from the fighting. A significant part of the forests has suffered devastating damage from bombing, shelling, mining, fires or simply incomprehensible to human logic actions of the aggressor.
We hope that these vehicles will help foresters to protect forest ecosystems from fires more effectively and help fight them.
In total, over the past few months, our nature reserve institutions have received 33 vehicles, video surveillance equipment, computers and other equipment from Lithuania.
Thanks to the agreements between Ruslan Strilets, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, and Simonas Gentvilas, Minister of Environment of Lithuania, we are expecting to receive 3 more fire trucks and 300 sets of firefighting gear. All this equipment will be a powerful support for Ukrainian forest defenders.
We thank our friends and colleagues from Lithuania for such a powerful and timely support!
