Ukrainian military forces are gradually gaining ground, pushing back Russian forces and advancing through well-defended territories. Therefore, it is important to continue supporting Ukraine. This was announced by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, whose statement was published by the Alliance's press service.

“Ukrainians have exceeded expectations again & again,” says NATO head Jens Stoltenberg "The Ukrainians are gradually advancing – pushing back the Russians, penetrating heavily fortified areas, including minefields, and now it's even more important to support them. These are tough battles, there's no easy path to victory for the Ukrainians – but they're making progress,"

The interviewer followed up by asking about the discussions in the capitals of the allied countries, as unofficial sources have suggested that Ukraine was offered an alternative way to conduct the operation.

"There's constant dialogue among allies, including with Ukraine, of course. Allies are providing unprecedented amounts of military assistance, training, and consultations, but ultimately, it's the Ukrainians, the Ukrainian field commanders, who must make these challenging decisions," stated Jens Stoltenberg.

Stoltenberg called on people to remember how Western analysts expected Ukraine to hold out for only a few days or weeks before a full-scale invasion, but Ukraine stood firm and subsequently pushed Russian forces out of the northern parts of Kyiv, Chernihiv, parts of Kharkiv, and the right bank of Kherson region.

"Now they're advancing again. We must trust them. We provide consultation and support, but ultimately, it's the Ukrainians who must make the decisions," emphasized the NATO Secretary General.
