The Swiss Armed Forces are participating in the North Atlantic Alliance's cyber defense exercises called Cyber Coalition this week, involving over 1,000 participants from more than 30 countries.

The Swiss army states that the aim of the exercises is to collaboratively address complex issues, eliminate weaknesses, and create an overall picture of the country's cybersecurity situation.
The Supreme Allied Commander Europe's headquarters of the Unified Armed Forces of NATO in Europe specifies that 1,000 cyber defenders from 28 NATO member countries and seven partner countries, as well as representatives from the EU, industry, and scientific communities, are taking part in Cyber Coalition 2023.
The training is taking place at the cyber range in the Estonian capital, Tallinn, where the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence operates. This center can be used to simulate realistic network infrastructure.
"The training is based on complex, realistic scenarios that help prepare cyber defenders for real cyber challenges, including attacks on critical national infrastructure and the disruption of NATO assets and alliance members during operations," the statement says.
Strengthening cybersecurity is one of the priorities of the security policy of the Swiss government. The Swiss Federal Council aims to gradually expand the cybersecurity capabilities of the armed forces by the mid-2030s.
Additionally, in early 2024, the Swiss Armed Forces will begin operating the newly established Cyber Command, which will replace the current Armed Forces Command Support Organization.
