In March 2020, public stevedoring company âYuzhnyâ handled 1 m 777,2 thous. tonnes of cargo. This is more than the previous record monthly volume â 1 m 650 thous. tonnes of cargo in March 2014 â by 127,2 thous. tonnes. Main cargoes are iron ore, pig iron and coal.
The company is ahead of schedule by 58%. Export cargoes contributed to this result. Export volume almost doubled to 1 m 329,3 thous. tonnes compared to March 2019 (713,4 thous. tonnes). Iron ore made up 91,8% of the total export cargoes.
In March, Sea Commercial Port âYuzhnyâ handled 25 vessels including 14 Capesize vessels. The number of large-tonnage bulk carriers with DWT above 150,000 tonnes doubled compared to March last year. In the first quarter of 2020, the company handled 36Â Capesize vessels, which is 19 vessels more than within the same period in 2019.

The lionâs share of the cargo turnover is iron ore (69% of the total export cargo). 67230 railcars have been handled within this period and this is 41% more than last year.
