Odessa boxers won six medals of the championship of Ukraine
Six medals, including two gold medals, were won by athletes from the Odessa region at the Ukrainian U-22 boxing championship, which took place in Ternopil.
This was reported in the regional branch of the National Olympic Committee.
The winners of the championship were: in the category up to 71 kg – Maxim Molodan and in the category up to 86 kg – Ilya Melnichuk. Both of them will take part in the European Championship in this age category, which will be held in mid-March in the city of Poreč (Croatia). Last year Maksim Molodan became the silver medalist of the U-22 European Championship.
On his tournament path, Maxim Molodan scored three victories with a score of 5:0 – over Andrey Kartyshev from the Dnipropetrovsk region, as well as Bogdan Dotsenko and Kirill Taran from Poltava.
Ilya Melnichuk was stronger than Stanislav Lyakh from Donetsk region, Dmitry Kodiy from Kiev region, Vladislav Balanyuk from Vinnitsa region, and in the final – Edward Kostyrenko from Kherson region (3:2).
Bronze medals were won by: in the category up to 57 kg – Dmitry Molodan, up to 63.5 kg – Maxim Gavrilyuk, up to 67 kg – Rashad Rasulov, up to 80 kg – Igor Babiychuk.
