The achievement of Ukraine for half a year of a full-scale war with Russia is that it was possible to save the state, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and stop the offensive of the aggressor.

However, Ukraine was not ready for war and is now completely dependent on Western weapons and financial assistance. Military expert Oleg Zhdanov said TSN.ua about this.

“Over these six months of the war, we have achieved that we have retained the country and most of the territory. The territory, 20% of which is occupied by the Russian Federation today, is the small part that Russia was able to seize from us. But the territory is such a thing, which, with the application of efforts, can be recaptured. The main thing is that there is something to fight. We saved the state, the Armed Forces, stopped the offensive of the Russian Federation - this is the main achievement," the expert assessed.

"What we could not achieve is that we were not ready for war. And in fact, we met the war in peacetime states. I mean our power component - the Armed Forces and other power structures. Therefore, the deployment of the Armed Forces already took place during the most armed invasion by the Russian Federation," Zhdanov said.

He added that another aspect of what Ukraine has not achieved during this war period is that the economy has not been put on a war footing.

"It does not work 100% for the Armed Forces, for the country's defense, for, no matter how trite it may sound, victory. Today, our leadership is more hopeful for Western assistance and, in fact, as I understand it, expects that we will pull out this war precisely thanks to Western assistance. Although the transfer of the country is, in my opinion, a prerequisite for ensuring victory, "the military expert said.

He also assessed what does not depend on Ukraine in the war with the Russian Federation.

"The main thing that does not depend on us is the ability of our Armed Forces to defend and win back our state. Unpreparedness for war. As Napoleon once said, whoever does not want to feed his own army will feed someone else's. So we did not want to feed our own army, and now we stand with an outstretched hand for Western help, because today we are almost completely fighting at the expense of Western assistance," Zhdanov said.

He added that Ukraine's victory, its successes, and confrontations today depend 100% on whether funds and weapons come from the West or not. Ukraine is 100% dependent, the military expert stressed.
