Pakistan imported 271,480 tons of Ukrainian soybeans between September and December 2024/25, securing third place in the ranking of soybean importing countries and accounting for 15.6% of the total soybean export volume.

This was reported by APK-Inform, citing customs statistics.

It is noted that during the same period of the previous season, no soybean shipments were made from Ukraine to Pakistan. Active exports of Ukrainian soybeans to this country began in May 2024.

In addition to Pakistan, the top three soybean importers from Ukraine for September–December 2024/25 included Turkey and the Netherlands. Specifically, Turkey led with an import volume of 352,940 tons during the reporting period, though this was nearly 17% lower than the previous season’s figure (424,320 tons in September–December 2023/24). In contrast, the Netherlands increased its imports of Ukrainian soybeans more than 3.5 times, reaching 271,960 tons in September–December 2024/25, compared to 77,360 tons during the same period of the previous season.

Meanwhile, Egypt significantly reduced its soybean imports during the reporting period. Specifically, for the four months of 2024/25, Egypt received 246,360 tons of soybeans, a 48.5% decrease compared to the same period of the previous season (478,180 tons). As a result of this reduction in imports, Egypt dropped from 1st to 4th place in the ranking of importing countries.

According to USDA estimates, Pakistan’s total soybean imports for the 2024/25 season may reach 1.5 million tons, an 87.5% increase from the previous season (800,000 tons). Analysts suggest that this will notably allow for the doubling of soybean processing volumes in Pakistan, expected to reach 1.4 million tons in 2024/25, compared to 700,000 tons in 2023/24.

Oil World analysts forecast that from January to March 2025, Pakistan will import 300,000 to 400,000 tons of soybeans.
