Following the Russian missile strike on Poltava, which resulted in 50 deaths and over 200 injuries, the United States has not altered its policy on providing Ukraine with the capability and permission to strike deep into Russian territory.

This was stated by Pentagon spokesperson General Patrick Ryder.

In response to a question about whether the recent Russian missile strike on Poltava prompted the US to change its policy regarding Ukraine's capability to strike Russia with long-range weapons, Ryder said:

"Regarding our policy on strikes (against targets in Russia ) at long distances, I do not have any announcements about any changes to our policy at this time."

He also assured that the US, along with its allies and partners, will continue to provide Ukraine with air defense systems.

The number of deaths from the Russian army's strike on Poltava has increased to 51, according to the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

271 people have been injured. There may still be 15 people trapped under the debris.
