Russia has significantly tightened the punishment for the military.
On Saturday, September 24, in Russia, President-dictator Vladimir Putin signed a package of amendments to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
This was reported on the official portal of legal information.
In particular, the law introduces the concepts of "mobilization", "martial law" and "wartime" into the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
It also introduces punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 10 years for:
- voluntary surrender, provided that there are no signs of a crime under the article "Treason" (from 3 to 10 years);
- for looting (up to 15 years);
- for failure to appear at the military registration and enlistment office after receiving the summons;
- for non-appearance or unauthorized leaving of the place of service (desertion) by those called up for military training from the reserve - they will be held liable on an equal basis with contractors;
- for refusing to participate in military or hostilities during martial law or in conditions of armed conflict.
The law also introduces a number of articles on the non-execution of the state defense order and violation of the terms of the state contract.
- Russians are trying to leave the country en masse. Still, neighboring countries are not happy about this: for example, Finland, where many Russians of military age are trying to get into, will restrict their entry completely.
