The creation of 400 km of bike paths in the Odessa region is envisaged in the road repair projects, which are currently in progress and will begin to be implemented this year.
This was announced by the Head of the Road Service in the Odessa region Dmitry Rybalka.
He noted that this "grandiose project" will become a powerful impetus for the development of tourism, both domestic and international.
Cycling routes will be looped in large and small circles. They will pass along the following tracks:
- M-14 Odessa - Melitopol - Novoazovsk;
- M-16 Odessa - Kuchurgan;
- M-27 Odessa - Chernomorsk;
- T-16-25 checkpoint "Kuchurgan" - Belyaevka - Mayaki - Ovidiopol;
- T-16-47 Karolino-Bugaz - Gribovka - Sanzheyka;
- T-16-10 Primorskoe - Yellow Yar - Tatarbunary;
- Ð-33 Odessa - Belgorod-Dnestrovsky - Monks.
Rybalka said that, first of all, work will begin on the road from Ovidiopol to Mayaki (T-16-25), the road to Belyaevka (T-16-19) and the Chernomorsk-Sanzheyka-Karolino-Bugaz road (T-16-47). Cycle paths will be included in the first two road repair projects. A separate project will be ordered for the road to Karolino-Bugaz, as part of the road has already been repaired in 2020. In the future, this cycle path is planned to be extended to Zatoka.
The Head of the Road Service said that the approximate cost of 1 kilometer of a bike path 2.5 meters wide is from 1.7 to 2 million UAH, which will cost the budget 710 million UAH. In terms of the already planned road repairs in the Odessa region, these are not very large sums, the official noted.
