When Russia invaded Ukraine on a full scale, Krzysztof Zanussi could not stand aside.
The famous Polish director Krzysztof Zanussi is incredibly worried about the fate of Ukraine and helps those who need it. So, after the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he and his wife sheltered six families from Ukraine at home. Zanussi spoke about this in an interview with Express.
"My wife and I were very imbued with their fate. We settled in our houses both in Warsaw and outside the city. Everyone fit in. Despite the fact that there were not only children but also pets. Now there are only two families left. Those who had relatives in Canada, flew overseas," the film director said.
Krzysztof Zanussi admitted that he hoped to the last that it would not come to a large-scale war. And when I heard on the news that the Russian Federation fired on Kyiv, Kharkov, Lvov, Ivano-Frankivsk and other cities, I could not believe it.
"Of course, it was a big shock⦠Although the war in Ukraine went on for more than one year, but its new wave came as a surprise. Until the last, I wanted to hope that it would not come to this⦠Now I closely follow the news from the front. Every evening , at twelve o'clock I turn on the radio again to check if something worse has happened to you ⦠", - added the man.
