Odessa shoe made of sea glass - now is in the International Museum of Sea Glass
An amazing shoe made of sea glass from Odessa took place in the exposition of the International Museum of Sea Glass in the USA The Sea Glass Center.
The Sea Glass Center was ready to open a permanent location for an international beachcombing collection on the Chesapeake Bay in spring 2020. The collection was founded as The Sea Glass Center in Maine in 2014. It is non profit organization dedicated to education about worldwide shoreline finds as well as to raising awareness about coastal erosion and marine debris.
In addition to the permanent and rotating museum collections they will offer an ocean arts retail shop that will feature artisans who create art using gifts from the sea.
This shoe was created by the famous Odessa craftswoman Ekaterina Shelygina. She collected sea glasses on the beaches of Odessa, and then combined them in the laborious tiffany technique.
The Sea Glass Center are hosting an auction during the Virtual Beachcombing Festival to raise funds for The Beachcombing Center.
