The Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service of Odessa Region provided an update on the repair progress of the bridge over the Kofa Canal in Izmail District.
The bridge is located on the T-16-07 highway, connecting Izmail, Kiliya, and Vilkove.
So far, the bridge structure, including the protective railing, has been completed, and the paving of the bridge surface has been done.
Ongoing work includes improvements on the approaches to the bridge and on the bridge itself, including embankment filling, cone installation near supports, separator installation, and the construction of water drainage systems.
Additionally, the T-16-07 highway leading to the bridge has been urgently restored.
"The Kofa Canal bridge is a key structure in southern Odessa region, connecting the Izmail and Kiliya ports and playing an important role for the four communities of Izmail District," the report states.
The bridge and road repairs will significantly increase traffic capacity and improve the movement of civilian vehicles, emergency medical services, school buses, first responders, and freight transport carrying goods of economic importance.
Built in the 1960s, the bridge was closed to all vehicle traffic in 2021 due to its deteriorating condition.
