The state enterprise Chornomorsk Sea Commercial Port has started handling steel billets for the first time in a decade. More than 20,000 tons of cargo have already been transferred. The arrival of the next batch is expected, for which the port is actively preparing.
In the challenging conditions of wartime, diversification of cargo flows and establishing operations with metal cargoes is an important strategic achievement. Steel billets are raw materials for one of Ukraine’s largest industrial enterprises. Their steady supply allows Ukrainian manufacturing to operate, provides jobs, fills the state budget, and strengthens Ukraine’s economy.
“Over recent years, the port specialized mainly in handling grain cargoes. During the war, the issue of diversifying cargo flows became one of the key priorities for preserving and developing the enterprise. The restoration of metal cargo handling is the result of the port team’s systematic work, which introduced a number of organizational, technical, and logistical changes,” said Vyacheslav Bezruk, Director of the SE Chornomorsk Sea Commercial Port.
This historic restoration has allowed not only the expansion of the range of cargoes handled but also strengthened the resilience of the enterprise under crisis conditions. The return of metal cargoes to the port is a strategic step that ensures stable operation, supports domestic industry, and brings new revenues to the budget.
The Chornomorsk port continues to actively work on attracting new cargo flows to remain a reliable partner for business and the state.
