The Russian propaganda army and special services, under Kremlin orders, are intensifying efforts to fuel disillusionment within Ukrainian society, destabilize the situation inside our country, and discredit Ukraine among partner states that provide critically important military assistance to our security and defense forces in the fight against the Russians.
This was reported by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Key narratives of hostile information attacks include:
- "The West has betrayed Ukraine,"
- "The opinions of Europeans and Ukrainians do not concern either Moscow or Washington,"
- "The U.S. and Russia have made all agreements behind Ukraine’s back,"
- "The Ukrainian government is illegitimate,"
- "The Ukrainian army is losing on the front,"
- "Ukrainian corrupt officials are stealing billions of dollars in American aid."
Furthermore, Russia is preparing to announce its supposed "victory" in the war against Ukraine by a "symbolic date"—February 24, 2025, the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion. Moreover, these plans may also include claims of "Russia’s victory over NATO," since Moscow’s propaganda has long framed the war against Ukraine as a war with the Alliance.
The Kremlin leaders have tasked the special services of Russia with fully exploiting in subversive information and psychological campaigns the activation of diplomatic efforts by the new U.S. administration to end the Russian-Ukrainian war, as well as the bilateral meeting of U.S. and Russian delegations in Saudi Arabia on February 18, 2025.
One of the key goals of the new Kremlin propaganda guidelines is to mask Russia’s status as an aggressor isolated by the civilized world and a war criminal with the guise of a supposedly constructive party to the conflict, allegedly ready for a peaceful resolution.
In this part of the campaign, Russian special services are targeting, in particular, Ukraine’s partners in Europe, who are not backing down but instead increasing their support for our country. The Kremlin labels such European governments as "enemies of peace."
