The defense industry is key to the joint security of Ukraine and the entire Europe. This was announced on Tuesday, November 28, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, during a press conference following the negotiations with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.

The minister noted that during the meeting, issues related to the necessity of creating a pan-European space and the development of a Euro-Atlantic defense complex to ensure security in Europe were extensively discussed.

"It is important to create a pan-European space where states will act together, where representatives of the defense industry will coordinate actions, where all processes will be synchronized and united, where Europe will provide constant support to Ukraine and thus support its defense capabilities and armed forces," he emphasized.

Dmytro Kuleba expressed confidence that the pan-European space in the defense industry should unite not only EU member states but also candidate states and like-minded countries.

The minister emphasized that it is important for Ukraine to implement the recommendations of the European Commission and, after the European Council's decision to begin negotiations, to swiftly take concrete steps towards Ukraine's accession to the EU.

"The best guarantee of security is Ukraine's membership in the EU, but this is a guarantee of security not only for Ukraine, not only for Europe but for the whole world," he underscored.

During the negotiations, Dmytro Kuleba and Josep Borrell reached an agreement on the necessity of adopting such important decisions as incorporating new measures into the sanctions package to limit Russia's capabilities in the production of missiles and drones, using frozen Russian assets for the reconstruction of Ukraine, and applying the EU mechanism to support, recover, and modernize Ukraine.
