Russian forces continue to use several airfields in occupied Crimea, despite a decrease in their effectiveness.
This was stated by Dmitry Pletenchuk, a representative of the Ukrainian Navy, during a television marathon.
According to him, Russian aviation is utilizing at least five airfields on the peninsula, but two of them no longer bear the same load they did at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Losses in equipment have led to a significant reduction in activity at these sites.
"Operations at these airfields have been reduced to a minimum," Pletenchuk noted.
He added that the Russian military could use more airfields in Crimea, given the large number of such facilities on the peninsula.
However, for some tactical reasons, they prefer to continue operating these specific airfields and do not relocate their aviation to mainland Russia.
"They do not want to relocate their aviation to mainland Russia for some tactical reasons, so they continue to use these airfields," he explained.
