Ukrainian marines continue to hold positions on Nestryha Island in Kherson region despite attacks by Russian forces.
This was reported by Dmytro Pletenchuk, head of the Strategic Communications Center of the Defense Forces of the South, during a broadcast of the United News telethon.
"Among the assaults that took place in the Kherson region, they again targeted Nestryha. This assault was unsuccessful. There were no losses of positions. However, holding the defense there is quite difficult because there is no settlement, no buildings or structures. But Ukrainian marines are doing the impossible and continue to maintain the bridgehead there despite numerous attacks from the enemy," he said.
According to Pletenchuk, there were 12 assaults on Ukrainian positions by the enemy in the south over the past day.
"The number of assaults has decreased over the past two days. If previously there were 15-20, yesterday there were 12. Half of them were in the Orikhiv direction, and the other half in the Dnipro direction, that is, in the Kherson region," he clarified.
Pletenchuk explained that the enemy in the southern direction had been accumulating resources for a long time, but recently they have been "exhausted." In particular, the Russians have losses in this direction, which are counted as a company, "half of which are irretrievable."
