Ukrainian ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets believes that the actions of the Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin indicate that he is not seeking a way out of the war in Ukraine, but is preparing for an even bigger one.

The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada wrote about this on Telegram, noting that the President of the Russian Federation recently introduced a bill to the State Duma, according to which the requirement to notify international organizations, such as the UN or the Council of Europe, about the introduction or cessation of a state of martial law in Russia is being abolished.

"By this, the aggressor country once again violates the requirements of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms! Moreover, the amendments to the law will allow the leadership of the Russian Federation to repress Russians without considering international humanitarian law. What does this indicate? The President of the Russian Federation is not seeking a way out of the war in Ukraine but is preparing for an even bigger one," wrote Lubinets, noting that a larger war would not exclude armed clashes with NATO countries.

According to him, sanctions against Russia and the provision of weapons to Ukraine should be the response of the international community to Russia's deliberate disregard of international humanitarian law.

"The international community needs to seriously prepare for the threats coming from Russia. And Western partners should impose additional sanctions against Russia and provide additional weapons to Ukraine to halt Russian military expansion. The aggression of the Russian Federation has demonstrated that the criminal regime of the top leadership of Russia will not stop in Ukraine and may start an even bloodier war in Europe," the ombudsman emphasized.
