Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, Maryna Denysiuk, participated in the flag-raising ceremony for a new vessel. The event took place with the participation of Estonia’s Minister of Infrastructure, Vladimir Svet, as part of a visit by representatives of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine to Odessa. The ship, built in Estonia, was recently handed over to the state enterprise "Maritime Search and Rescue Service."
“The employees of the Maritime Search and Rescue Service diligently fulfill their duties to ensure maritime safety under the extremely challenging conditions of military aggression, particularly when it comes to the Ukrainian humanitarian corridor, which serves as a guarantee of global food security. Since the specialized maritime corridor began operating, vessels of the Maritime Search and Rescue Service have covered 89,992 kilometers,” stated Denysiuk.
"It is a special honor for me to participate in this ceremony today. This is another step toward strengthening our fleet and ensuring security in the Black Sea. I sincerely thank our Estonian partners and true friends of Ukraine for their unwavering support and the assistance provided by the Estonian government, particularly in strengthening and developing the maritime sector,” she added.
Denysiuk also emphasized that Ukraine and Estonia will continue to develop cooperation in the transport sector, which was a key topic discussed in Odessa. This includes projects for the development of Ukraine’s rail, road, and maritime sectors. Special attention will be focused on public-private partnership projects, primarily the concession of the Chornomorsk Sea Port.
She also thanked her Estonian colleagues for their initiative in forming the Maritime Industry Recovery Plan. Denysiuk highlighted the importance of Ukraine’s Maritime Security Strategy and the Interagency Working Group for coordinating the implementation of the Strategy. This group includes representatives of all executive authorities involved in drafting the Recovery Plan. The Deputy Head of this group will be Andrii Kashuba, Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, with the group’s first meeting planned for February.
