A fire caused by a Russian drone strike is still being extinguished at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

This was reported on Telegram by Ukraine’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources.

"As of 07:00, efforts to extinguish the fire caused by the Russian drone strike on the arch of the New Safe Confinement are ongoing. The radiation situation remains under constant monitoring, with current fluctuations staying within normal limits for each monitoring point," the statement reads.

According to the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management (SAUEZM), an inspection of the arch revealed damage to its external cladding, including through-holes covering an area of approximately 15 square meters, as well as defects in the cladding and its internal filler.

There are also damaged bolted connections and load-bearing structures of the garage, along with deformed joints in the upper section of the maintenance garage.

During the night of February 14, a Russian strike drone with a high-explosive warhead hit the shelter above the destroyed fourth reactor of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) discovered fragments of the Russian Geran-2 (Shahed-type) kamikaze drone inside and near the protective structure. According to intelligence assessments, the attack on the plant was deliberate.
