The Ministry of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure of Ukraine, the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, and the French Agency for International Technical Cooperation, Expertise France, have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for the reconstruction of the Chernihiv region.
"Our common goal is to facilitate the rapid recovery of the region and its long-term transformation through community recovery programs and plans. Successful partnership between French and Ukrainian communities is crucial for the sustainable development of Chernihiv, especially considering Ukraine's gradual integration into the European Union's economic space. The opening of a community support office in Chernihiv now, despite ongoing Russian aggression, demonstrates a high level of commitment to Ukraine's recovery," emphasized Vice Prime Minister for Reintegration of Ukraine and Minister of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure of Ukraine, Oleksandr Kubrakov.
Work is already underway on specific projects, which will be fully or partially implemented in the Chernihiv region, with a total volume of over 5 million euros, including:
• Conservation work on the roof of the regional academic theater in Chernihiv,
• Support for Ukrainian startups and innovations at the local level, including in the Chernihiv region,
• Priority assistance in the healthcare sector, including the restoration of anti-radiation shelters in central hospitals in the Chernihiv region,
• Support for local self-government bodies in recovery and decentralization, including the development and implementation of training modules on innovation, mobility, agriculture, culture, and heritage.
