Starting in December 2025, new direct train services will link Germany with the Polish-Ukrainian border, significantly expanding travel options between the two countries.

According to RAILMARKET.com, the number of daily direct trains between Germany and Poland will increase from 11 to 17, a 54 percent growth. On the Berlin–Warsaw route, trains will run every two hours, with a seventh pair added to accommodate rising passenger demand and improve connections between the two capitals.

A new daytime service will also operate from Leipzig through Wrocław and Kraków to Przemyśl twice a day in each direction, with one train continuing to Przemyśl near the Ukrainian border. This will mark Leipzig’s first direct rail connection to southern Poland and the border region with Ukraine. Coordinated transfers in Leipzig will allow travelers from Munich, Nuremberg, and Frankfurt to reach Wrocław about two hours faster. The route will also include stops in Chemnitz and Dresden, enhancing regional accessibility.

Night trains are being added as well. A EuroCity service will run from Berlin to Przemyśl via Wrocław and Kraków, while another night train will connect Berlin and Chełm via Łódź and Warsaw. The popular “Chopin” night train from Munich to Warsaw will receive additional carriages for Kraków and Przemyśl, creating a direct overnight connection from southern Germany to southern Poland.

Travel time between Leipzig and Wrocław is expected to be roughly three and a half hours, while the 570 km Berlin–Warsaw EuroCity route will continue to provide nonstop service between the capitals.
