The Budget Committee of the Bundestag approved a €70 million aid package on Wednesday, September 25, intended to support the heating and electricity sector in Ukraine.

This was reported by DW.

The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development explained that this money will be directed towards providing Ukrainian cities and communities with small heat and power plants, boilers, generators, and solar panels.

The aim of this approach is to create a decentralized energy supply using small power plants or solar systems.

According to the German ministry, the creation of a decentralized and flexible energy supply through small heat and power plants, boilers, generators, and solar systems aims to prevent the worst consequences in affected cities and communities, especially with winter approaching.

With this assistance, community centers, hospitals, schools, and other social facilities will receive more reliable and independent energy supply, Berlin officials emphasized.

According to Minister Svenja Schulze, it "will not be so easy for Russia to destroy the decentralized energy system in Ukraine."
