Hungary and the United States have signed a five-year agreement to supply Budapest with American liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced this on the social media platform X on Tuesday, December 16.
“Today we have reached an important milestone in American-Hungarian energy cooperation by signing a contract for 400 million cubic metres of LNG a year,” he wrote.
Szijjártó explained that over the next five years Hungary will receive a total of two billion cubic meters of U.S. LNG.
“We are interested in purchasing energy from as many sources and via as many routes as possible, ensuring the lowest prices,” the Hungarian minister added.
