Minister of the Interior of Finland, Mari Rantanen, commented on the decision regarding the border with Russia.
This was reported by Yle.
Minister of the Interior Mari Rantanen does not consider the possibility of opening border crossing points at this stage. The government's decision on extending the closure of borders is expected this week.
"There is a significant number of people waiting at the border from the other side. On the other hand, Russia seems to have not changed," the minister summed up.
Rantanen did not provide a schedule for the closure of borders. According to her, the decision to close borders primarily concerns national security and the safety of citizens.
"We will not succumb to such pressure. The closure of borders will last as long as necessary. We hope to see an end to this, but it is not visible yet," the minister said.
According to the Border Guard, on the Russian border, as before, there are hundreds or even thousands of citizens of third countries who wish to come to Finland without proper documents.
