Polish special services have detained two citizens of Belarus and one Polish citizen suspected of preparing sabotage on the territory of the country at the behest of the Russian military intelligence (GRU).
It is reported by Rzeczpospolita that the detainees were planning and had already carried out arson attacks on shopping centers, restaurants, and warehouses.
In January of this year, a saboteur was detained, who allegedly also acted on Russia's orders and planned to set fire to objects in Wroclaw.
The latest detentions are part of the investigation into this case. The suspects were detained in Prushkovo (Belarus) and Warsaw. Allegedly, the detainees attempted to set fire to objects in Gdansk and the suburbs of Warsaw for a reward of 10,000 euros.
Two citizens of Belarus aged 37 and 35, one of whom has a Polish card, and a 40-year-old Polish citizen who lived in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, were involved. The aim of the sabotage was to "cause chaos, fear, shock, and loss of property, and possibly human lives."
Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the detainees under the article on participation in an organized criminal group with the aim of committing a crime against the Republic of Poland at the behest of a foreign intelligence service. They face life imprisonment.
