Based on the materials of the Security Service, the Ukrainian property of Russian Major General Valery Kapashin, the head of the federal department for the safe storage and destruction of chemical weapons at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, has been arrested. The blocked assets list includes over 20 commercial properties, more than 3,000 square meters of residential real estate, and 17 land plots in the Poltava region.
Among the seized assets are the Kapashin family house, premium-class hotels and restaurants, as well as office and entertainment centers with a total area of almost 30,000 square meters. The total value of the confiscated assets amounts to over UAH 1 billion.
The blocked property of Kapashin was registered under his daughter and son-in-law's names, who resided in Ukraine but left for Russia and obtained the citizenship of the aggressor country just before Russia's full-scale invasion. Therefore, the Russian general used his relatives to legitimize funds acquired from corrupt schemes in Moscow.
Additionally, Kapashin's close relatives used profits from the "family" business to finance "investment" projects in Russia and temporarily occupied Donbas. Part of these funds was directed to the budget of the aggressor country in the form of taxes and fees.
During the searches at the addresses of office and residential premises owned by the Russian general's family, the following items were found:
- Russian-style military uniform
- Soviet symbols and Russian propaganda literature
- Souvenirs and awards presented to Kapashin in the Kremlin.
