On July 31, during a search operation at locations where drone fragments were likely to have fallen following a Russian Shahed strike on Ukraine, new UAV fragments were discovered near the Chatalkioi area in Tulcea County, Romania.
According to the Romanian Ministry of National Defense, the search was conducted by mixed teams of specialists from the Ministry of Defense and other relevant national defense, public order, and national security structures.
"Research actions" were carried out at sites where drone fragments could have fallen on the Romanian side of the Danube following "attacks by Russian forces on certain civilian targets and port infrastructure in Ukraine" the previous week.
"In all areas reported as possible locations for drone debris, elements were found near the villages of Plauru and Periprava in Tulcea County. On Wednesday, July 31, drone fragments were also confirmed in the Chatalkioi area of Tulcea County," stated the Romanian ministry.
The ministry added that "standard operating procedures for such situations" were implemented.
The Romanian side noted that "all places identified as incident zones are outside populated areas, and no people or infrastructure elements were affected."
Additionally, the Romanian Ministry of Defense stated that it is informing allied structures about the situation caused by these attacks in real time.
"We also reiterate our strong condemnation of the attacks carried out by the Russian Federation on certain targets and elements of Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, which are unjustified and seriously contradict international law norms," the ministry's statement added.
