In Bryansk, the head of the design bureau of the Bryansk Electromechanical Plant, key developer of the Krasukha electronic warfare (EW) complex, Yevgeny Rytikov, was blown up, according to sources from the Defense Forces reported to RBK-Ukraine.
A homemade bomb was planted in his car and detonated on the night of April 18 when the engineer was getting into the car with a colleague. Both died on the spot. Information about Rytikov's death was confirmed by pro-Kremlin Telegram channels Shot and Mash, as well as the VChK-OGPU public group. It is presumed that the second victim was the deputy head of the design bureau or his assistant.
The explosion occurred in the Bezhitsa district, as reported by local social media groups. The improvised explosive device, filled with shrapnel, was attached to the underside of the car. Leaked information indicates that Rytikov indeed lived in the Bezhitsa district.
Officially, the authorities have not confirmed the designer’s death. He would have turned 35 on April 30. In 2016, he won the "Engineer of the Year" competition in Bryansk region in the category "Military and Special Equipment."
The design bureau of the Bryansk Electromechanical Plant develops and manufactures EW systems and electronic intelligence systems used by the Russian army in the war against Ukraine. The Krasukha system, which Rytikov worked on modernizing, is designed to jam onboard radars of strike and reconnaissance aircraft, as well as drones. The system provides protection for air defense assets, command posts, launch complexes of strategic missile systems, airfields, and industrial and administrative facilities.
The death of Rytikov occurred against the backdrop of a series of attacks on high-ranking officials from Russia’s military and defense sectors. Thus, on April 25, in the Moscow region’s Balashikha, General-Lieutenant Yaroslav Moskalyk, the deputy head of the Main Operations Directorate of the Russian General Staff, was killed in a car explosion.
