Electricity in Ukraine may be unavailable for 4-6 hours per day starting from summer. This was stated by the Director of the Energy Research Center, Oleksandr Kharchenko.
According to him, Ukraine lost 7 GW of thermal and hydroelectric power stations due to missile strikes. Therefore, the country is unlikely to cope with consumption peaks in July-August and winter without serious restrictions.
"In the worst-case scenario, access to electricity will be unavailable for 4-6 hours per day. But there will be no apocalypse," commented Oleksandr Kharchenko.
He notes that Russia's attacks on local thermal power plants will continue. According to the expert, this is practically an inevitable scenario, but it is much easier, cheaper, and faster to restore heating boilers than to restore generators and turbines for electricity production.
"It wouldn't hurt to have a gas, petrol, or diesel generator for a private house and an EcoFlow or equivalent for residents of a multi-apartment building. It is also important for the pumps of the multi-apartment building, which supply water and heat, to be equipped with generators. This will allow residents to receive water and heat even in the absence of electricity," adds Kharchenko.
Also, during the telethon "United News, Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko stated that there would be no total blackout in the country.
"Unfortunately, there is no doubt that Russian strikes will continue. Undoubtedly, the left-bank part of Ukraine is more vulnerable for a number of reasons. Now there are a lot of experts appearing, and everyone knows everything, that's it, tomorrow there will be a blackout and a total catastrophe. This is all lies and falsehood. There will be no total blackout in the country," assured Halushchenko.
