As of now, 43,000 Ukrainians have received temporary protection status in Sweden.

This was announced during a meeting between Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, and Sweden’s Minister for Civil Defence, Carl-Oskar Bolin.

Klymenko expressed gratitude to the Swedish people and government for granting temporary protection status to 43,000 Ukrainian citizens, calling it a significant contribution to the friendship between the two nations.

The Minister also briefed his Swedish counterparts on the unique experience of Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs in countering Russia’s aggression and addressing its aftermath. He noted that Russia’s primary efforts with the approaching winter are focused on destroying or disrupting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure through aerial missile and drone attacks. Klymenko highlighted the Ministry's readiness for collaboration with Swedish partners, particularly in the field of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), and emphasized Sweden's role in the Drone Coalition.

Additionally, the Ukrainian Minister updated the Swedish delegation on Ukraine’s preparations for the winter amid the ongoing war, specifically regarding critical infrastructure, shelters, and resilience efforts. He mentioned the continuous command-and-staff exercises conducted by Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs to address potential electricity shortages and emergency situations, including air attacks.

Minister Klymenko also highlighted the deployment of Points of Invincibility by the State Emergency Service (SES) and the National Police in cooperation with local communities, ensuring the functionality and accessibility of shelters.

In response, Minister Bolin expressed Sweden’s ongoing support for Ukraine’s strategies and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening cooperation, especially in matters of security, which are of mutual importance.
