In frontline communities of Zaporizhzhia region, 100 kilometers of anti-drone tunnels will be built by the end of the year to protect against Russian attacks, the head of the regional administration, Ivan Fedorov, said during a briefing.
According to him, Russian forces increasingly use fiber-optic-guided drones, which makes anti-drone tunnels a top priority for the region’s infrastructure. Dozens of kilometers have already been built. The practice began with one of the brigades on the Zaporizhzhia front and continues with the support of the General Staff and the State Special Transport Service.
“Our goal is to build nearly 100 kilometers of anti-drone routes along the main logistics corridors in the region by the end of the year,” Fedorov noted.
He also announced that the region’s defense fund will be increased to almost 3.5 billion hryvnias by year’s end.
“The needs of the military are growing. The main issues and needs remain the same – Mavik drones, FPV drones, vehicles, and logistical support,” the regional chief added.
In Kherson region, work on installing anti-drone nets has been ongoing for almost a year. Currently, main roads are being reinforced with nets that have proven resistant both to Russian drone attacks and to weather conditions.
