Russian forces attacked one of the penitentiary facilities in Zaporizhzhia region overnight.
This was reported by the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov.
"Overnight, the Russians attacked one of the penitentiary institutions in the region. Unfortunately, there are casualties and injuries," he stated.
Fedorov clarified that the shelling destroyed parts of the facility and also damaged nearby private homes.
Later, he added that Russian forces struck the Zaporizhzhia district eight times during the night, reportedly using FAB bombs. One of the strikes hit the correctional colony. Sixteen people were killed, and 35 were injured.
All necessary medical assistance is being provided to the victims.
