The museum of the philosopher Hryhoriy Skovoroda in the Kharkiv region has announced the "301 True Friend of Skovoroda" fundraiser with the goal of collecting three million hryvnias for the restoration of the museum.
During the night from May 6 to May 7, a Russian missile hit the Skovoroda museum, leaving it in ruins for over a year. The fire destroyed 280 square meters, leaving only the walls of the building and the statue of the poet intact. Fortunately, the most valuable exhibits of the museum were relocated to a safe place in advance. Previously, Skovoroda himself lived in this building – it was where he died and was buried.
The museum team has decided to initiate a fundraising campaign to preserve the museum, as another winter is approaching, which could further deteriorate the condition of the building. The name of the campaign is not accidental: on December 3, the poet will celebrate his 301st birthday.
"A year ago, the Kharkiv Community Fund 'Toloka' was one of the first to provide assistance to the museum to carry out urgent emergency work. Recently, the museum announced a fundraising campaign for restoration, dedicated to the 301st anniversary of Hryhoriy Savych Skovoroda. The Kharkiv Community Fund 'Toloka' is also joining this initiative," noted the Fund.
To contribute to the restoration, one can organize a collection starting from 5,000 UAH, donate exhibits for the museum, contribute personal artifacts, provide media support, or donate funds to the museum's account.
