The Russian forces are using banned phosphorus bombs during the advance on Avdiivka, reported the 3rd Assault Brigade from the front line on Friday.
The 3rd Separate Assault Brigade confirms that it was urgently redeployed to reinforce Ukrainian forces in the area of Avdiivka. The situation in the city at the time of the brigade's arrival is extremely critical.
"Avdiivka. Coke Chemical Plant... The occupiers are using phosphorus shells, which cause tankers with fuel oil to catch fire. Toxic smog spreads throughout the entire territory of the plant," the brigade's message in the telegram channel reads.
"About 60 aviation bombs - during the day and at night, enemy shelling from artillery and MLRS. Continuous assaults on armored vehicles and enemy infantry onslaughts," describe the situation the defenders from the 3rd Assault Brigade.
"As of now, this is the new 'home' of the 3rd Assault Brigade. Does it remind you of anything?" the brigade notes, which has stood on the Bakhmut direction for almost a year.
"But our units continue to resist the enemy valiantly, defending and inflicting record losses on the enemy," summed up the 3rd Assault Brigade.
Meanwhile, the objective situation in Avdiivka remains threatening and unstable. The enemy continues active rotation of its forces and is deploying new troops and assets to the city.
