320 Ukrainians will receive state grant funds totaling UAH 77 million for starting or developing businesses under the "Own Business" programme based on the results of the thirteenth wave of application submissions. Since the programme's inception, 7,000 Ukrainians have become winners, receiving financial support totaling UAH 1.7 billion. This information was provided by Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Tetiana Berezhna.
"Following the thirteenth wave of microgrant applications, 320 Ukrainians will receive UAH 77 million to start or expand their businesses. In total, since the launch of the 'Own Business' programme, 7,000 Ukrainians have taken advantage of the opportunity to receive financial support from the state for business development. These entrepreneurs will receive UAH 1.7 billion to implement their business projects. Over 6,000 programme winners have already received funds in their accounts and directed them towards developing their businesses, creating 16,500 jobs," noted Tetiana Berezhna.
Among the recipients of microgrants in the thirteenth wave, 55% are women and 45% are men. 80% of them have higher education. The largest number of grant recipients come from Lviv (53 individuals), Rivne (23 individuals), Kyiv (23 individuals), Ivano-Frankivsk (22 individuals), Zhytomyr (20 individuals), Volyn (19 individuals), and Dnipropetrovsk (18 individuals) regions. The majority of grant recipients plan to use the funds for purchasing equipment necessary for conducting their business.
The most popular sectors in which winners of the thirteenth wave will work include:
- Wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles - 115 individuals
- Processing industry - 57 individuals
- Temporary accommodation and food services - 43 individuals
With the help of the "Own Business" grant programme, Ukrainians can receive microgrants ranging from UAH 50,000 to UAH 250,000. The funds can be used for purchasing or leasing equipment, acquiring raw materials and materials, and renting premises. Both existing entrepreneurs and individuals without prior business experience can apply for a microgrant. A mandatory condition for receiving funds is the creation of 1-2 jobs, depending on the grant amount. Ukrainians who received microgrants in 2022 have created around 8,000 new jobs.
