On May 24, a new air defense system capable of intercepting enemy cruise missiles was delivered from Germany. This was reported by Spiegel and the German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
The publication states that the German federal government is strengthening Ukraine's air defense.
"According to Spiegel, another IRIS-T SLM anti-aircraft complex arrived in Ukraine on Friday," the journalists wrote.
Currently, Ukraine has four medium-range IRIS-T systems and one short-range IRIS-T system. Germany has promised Kyiv nine IRIS-T SLM and eleven IRIS-T SLS systems, which are produced by Diehl Defense.
Ukraine lacks not only the anti-aircraft systems, but also the ammunition for them. This shortage is due to the increased air strikes on Ukraine, and now the manufacturer is working to meet Kyiv's request for air defense missiles.
