The Zhytomyr volunteer initiative, which produces Polissya Armor and Polissya Birds, has begun manufacturing radio-electronic warfare (REW) equipment for the military upon request.
Sergey Khomenko, co-founder of the volunteer initiative, shared this information.
"When we started studying the topic, it turned out that the prototype of the REW we needed costs around $5,000, which is 200,000 hryvnias. We were, to put it mildly, very saddened by the price. But when we delved into the subject ourselves, studied it, it turned out that if we approach it with maximum efficiency, then 40,000 hryvnias is enough to make a powerful three-band REW that covers frequencies of 700, 900, 1100 MHz. These are the frequencies on which all FPV technology works until recently," says Khomenko.
According to him, the team is already finishing work on the first REW, which will undergo final testing in the coming days and will be sent to artillerymen on the Zaporizhzhia direction this week. This is a mobile three-band REW that will protect armored vehicles and support vehicles.
Currently, volunteers purchase all components within two days in Ukraine. They can produce one finished product within a week. All products will be sent to the military free of charge. The money for the components comes from donations from ordinary people.
Sergey says that in the next REW devices, they will add frequencies of 400 MHz and even 200 MHz. Engineers will monitor the relevance of the military's needs and respond to them.
