At the 20th anniversary of Forum Expanded, which is part of the Berlin International Film Festival, the premiere of the Ukrainian film "Special Operation" by director Oleksiy Radynski will take place. The film tells the story of the Russian occupation of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant at the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine. This was reported by the Berlinale website.

"Special Operation" is a documentary film created using footage from surveillance cameras recorded during the occupation of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in February 2022. Without dialogue and traditional narration, the film places the audience in the position of witnesses, showing how Russian military personnel acted on the Chernobyl site.

Director Oleksiy Radynski describes his film as evidence: each frame is a testament to a war crime, and the approach to depicting events aims to dismantle myths about the Russian army.

"For me, it's important that the premiere takes place in the Forum Expanded section, which combines experimental and political cinema," says Radynski.

The creation of the film became possible thanks to the efforts of anonymous Chernobyl workers who risked their lives to preserve the footage during the occupation.
