One of the nuclear units has been connected to Ukraine's power grid following planned maintenance and nuclear fuel reloading.
This information comes from the Ministry of Energy's press service.
"Energy officials completed the planned maintenance of the nuclear power unit ahead of schedule. This will significantly enhance the stability of the energy system during this challenging period," the statement said.
According to the Energoatom press service, the "thousandth" energy unit, providing 1 GW, has been connected to the grid.
The Ministry of Energy highlighted that nuclear power generation is crucial for Ukraine's energy stability and independence. It constituted the foundation of the energy system even before the full-scale invasion, and remains particularly vital now, covering more than half of the country's energy consumption.
Before the full-scale invasion, Ukraine operated 15 nuclear power units, including 9 under Ukrainian control at the Khmelnytsky (four units), Rivne (two units), and South Ukrainian (three units) nuclear power plants. Six units are located at the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
