On the night of July 16 (starting at 8:00 p.m. on July 15), the Russian forces launched an attack using an Iskander-M ballistic missile from Crimea, as well as 400 strike UAVs of the Shahed type and various types of decoy drones.

These were launched from multiple directions: Shatalovo, Bryansk, Kursk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), and Chauda (occupied Crimea). Up to 255 of them were Shahed drones.

The main targets of the attack were Kryvyi Rih, Kharkiv, and Vinnytsia.

The air assault was countered by Ukrainian Defense Forces using aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and drone systems, and mobile fire groups.

According to preliminary data as of 08:30, air defense shot down 198 Shahed-type UAVs (and other types of drones) across the north, south, east, and center of Ukraine.

Additionally, 145 decoy drones were lost from radar tracking or suppressed by electronic warfare systems.

There were confirmed hits from 1 missile and 57 drones in 12 locations, as well as debris from downed UAVs falling in 2 locations.
