Today, June 4, the 28th meeting of Ukraine and its partners in the "Ramstein" format took place. The allies announced new military aid packages worth billions of dollars.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The United Kingdom announced a record aid package for drone supplies — £350 million. So, in 2025, Ukraine will receive 100,000 drones. Overall, in 2025, Britain will allocate £4.5 billion for military support to Ukraine — of which £247 million will be directed to training the Ukrainian army.
Germany approved a new military aid package worth €5 billion. The Bundestag has already ratified this decision. Berlin will finance long-range weapons to be produced in Ukraine, as well as provide air defense systems, ammunition, and other weapons.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands will deliver an aid package worth €400 million. It will include a mine countermeasure vessel, patrol boats, and marine drones.
Belgium announced a new long-term initiative — annual assistance to Ukraine amounting to €1 billion through 2029. The country will also provide a mine countermeasure vessel.
Norway is allocating $700 million for drones, supporting the Ukrainian defense industry. Another $50 million will go to the NSATU Trust Fund — NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine. The “Ramstein” meetings have a political dimension, while NSATU is already helping implement their decisions practically.
Canada will provide $45 million for drones, electronic warfare systems, armored vehicles Coyote and Bison, and IT solutions. Sweden will allocate €440 million for international programs to procure artillery ammunition, drones, and other weapons for Ukraine.
Overall, in 2025, security assistance will surpass the levels of all previous years of the full-scale war.
"This is a mutually beneficial initiative. Ukraine’s defense-industrial complex will gain access to foreign financing, advanced technologies, new production facilities, and strategic partnerships with leading global players. Meanwhile, our partners strengthen their own industrial capabilities while transferring weapons to Ukraine. Together, we are not just defending freedom. We are shaping the future of defense for the countries of the free world," wrote Rustem Umerov.
- The “Ramstein” format was launched in spring 2022. Monthly meetings of the contact group on Ukraine’s defense involve representatives from over 50 countries worldwide.
- This “Ramstein” meeting is the first one missed by the U.S. Secretary of Defense. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will arrive in Brussels only on Wednesday evening.
