During tonight's drone attack, the enemy primarily targeted Ivano-Frankivsk. However, our defense forces destroyed all 13 drones launched.
This was announced by the spokesperson for the Air Force Command of Ukraine, Ilya Yevlash, during the United News telethon.
"Tonight, the enemy directed their main efforts towards Ivano-Frankivsk," said Yevlash.
According to him, our defenders successfully neutralized all 13 drones.
"The UAVs were flying along standard routes, performing reconnaissance functions. They attempted to maneuver and circumvent various areas of terrain, often choosing hard-to-reach areas along rivers and ravines, where it's challenging for mobile fire groups to reach. They also attempted to encircle Ivano-Frankivsk and attack the city from different directions – north, south. They flew in a staggered formation to make it more difficult to hit them. Despite such tactics, our defense forces managed to eliminate all UAVs," noted the Air Force spokesperson.
He explained the enemy's tactics to complicate targeting.
"At the border of Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava regions, a drone hovered over the water for several hours. It was in an area that's difficult for our defense forces to access, but eventually, our defenders still managed to destroy it," Yevlash stated.
According to him, the current major issue lies in the shortage of anti-aircraft missile systems. "We need missiles for our portable anti-aircraft missile systems, which are quite effective even against cruise missiles. However, this requires additional resources and equipment, including for mobile fire groups that could effectively detect and engage drones during the dark hours," the spokesperson emphasized.
