The head of the President's Office of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, reported on new methods Russia is using to circumvent sanctions in oil trading, including the use of sanctioned tankers from Sovcomflot for transportation. Yermak shared this information on Telegram.
"Russia is also employing new methods to bypass sanctions in oil trading by using sanctioned Sovcomflot tankers for transportation. The tanker Oxis received 1 million barrels of Urals oil from a sanctioned tanker in the Oman Gulf. The tactics include turning off tracking systems and providing false location data. This complicates international monitoring but also indicates the effectiveness of sanctions, forcing Russia to resort to complex and risky oil export schemes," Yermak said.
He noted that despite the effectiveness of these restrictions, sanctions on Russia's oil industry need to be strengthened.
