Farmers who joined the state compensation program for demining agricultural land received over 295 hectares of cleared land for use in April.

Since the start of the program, demining operators (PMD) have completed work and returned nearly 1,400 hectares of land, freed from mines and unexploded ordnance, to farmers, according to the press service of the Ministry of Economy.

“The work we have been doing in recent years to enhance demining capabilities, in cooperation with our partners, is yielding results. Today, we have 87 certified operators and more than 250 demining machines. This allows us to actively work on demining agricultural land under the compensation programme. In April, we launched an information and awareness campaign to help farmers who need their lands cleared to join the programme,” said Deputy Minister of Economy Ihor Bezkaravainyi.

At the same time, the ministry reported that the Ukrainian engineering company XTI Engineering completed state certification of the first domestic heavy remote-controlled demining system, GART 5100. The system was designed to neutralize mines and explosive devices through detonation and mechanical destruction using a chain hammer unit or a milling tool.

GART 5100 is a fully Ukrainian development. All stages of production—from design to assembly—are carried out in Ukraine. This significantly reduces logistics, ensures fast delivery, and simplifies maintenance and repair.

The State Scientific Research Institute for Testing and Certification of Armaments and Military Equipment issued the certification. The machine is now being prepared for mass production.

The GART 5100 demining machine has the following characteristics:

  • Remote control: up to 600 meters, with the ability to extend the range to 1 km with the use of a relay.
  • Equipped with a wide-angle camera system.
  • Working speed: 1.5 km/h.
  • Can clear over 2 hectares of land in one daylight period.
  • Processing depth: up to 300 mm.
  • Interchangeable equipment allows for adaptation to different soil types.
