Instructors and trainers from the Australian Defence Force's Operation KUDU are assisting Ukrainian men and women in mastering military skills on training grounds in the United Kingdom as part of the multinational operation INTERFLEX.
One of the types of training is the passing by a psychological line on one of the training ground in the middle of the dense forests of the UK.
Every cadet has crawl the distance in a low trench, overcoming various obstacles. The instructors are constantly shouting at trainer and shooting over his head, near the trenches, you can hear the loud sounds of gunfire and explosions – special devises simulate mortars and machine guns. Fake corpses lie in the bushes.
"The soldier must squeeze through a narrow tunnel, crawl under barbed wire, in a smoky trench. An enemy soldier is waiting for them in the trench, the cadets must destroy and disarm him. And at the end of the task, he finds a "wounded brother" - a mannequin weighing more than 50 kilograms. The "brother" needs to be helped – Ukrainian soldier have to stop the heavy bleeding with a tourniquet, and then together with a friend pull him to safety place"
Australia continues to stand with the people of Ukraine, and is providing ongoing support in response to russia’s continuing violation of international law.
Having arrived the United Kingdom in January 2023, a contingent of ADF personnel have joined partner nations in the UK-led and based training programme for Ukrainian recruits.
